In July of 2001 Dan Dwyer and his wife, Kelly, realized their dream when Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, a state-of-the-art 22,000 square foot facility, opened next to Michigan Memorial Park.

Daniel P. Dwyer, Owner/General Manager, Licensed Funeral Director ddwyer@michmemfuneralhome.com Mr. Dwyer is a fourth-generation funeral director raised in the family funeral home in Pittsfield, Massachusetts that was established by his great-grandfather in 1904. He graduated from Hudson Valley Community College’s Mortuary Science program in May 1988 and became a Massachusetts licensed funeral director and embalmer later that same year. In the summer of 1989 he obtained his New York funeral director’s license. He continued to work at the family-owned Dwyer Funeral Home until August 1991 when he became President of Ker-Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home in Brattleboro, Vermont and obtained his Vermont funeral director’s license at that time. In 1994 he married Kelly, a fourth generation cemeterian from Flat Rock, Michigan. In 1997, Ker-Westerlund & Fleming was sold and he moved permanently to Michigan. In late 1997 he obtained his Michigan funeral director’s license and in early 1998 began plans for a funeral home to be located next to Michigan Memorial Park. The doors of this outstanding new firm opened in the summer of 2001. Dan has been involved in numerous community projects and events throughout the years and is a member of Rotary, Elks and Masons. He and Kelly are the proud parents of three daughters, (possibly the fifth generation of funeral directors and cemeterians) Alexandra, Danielle and Quinn. |
